Projects in the
Field of Extremism Prevention

CEOPS

The Center for Education on Online Prevention in Social Networks (CEOPS) is a nationwide training program that, since 2021, has empowered young adults and NGO staff through digital courses to recognize group-focused enmity and extremism on social media and to counteract these in the spirit of promoting democracy.

streetwork@online

streetwork@online is a nationwide project dedicated to the prevention of religiously motivated extremism in online networks and messenger services. The online street workers are active on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, Facebook, and Discord to promote dialogue with young adults who are exposed to extremist content.

Local Streetwork On/Off

The “Local Streetwork Online/Offline” project aims to prevent Salafist-Islamist radicalization through a secondary and tertiary prevention approach. By combining online and offline streetwork, the project seeks to prevent violent Islamic-extremist radicalization and promote disengagement processes.

Ex-On

The “EXON – Extremism Prevention Online” project offers online courses for educational professionals in Lower Saxony. The extra-occupational courses offer an introduction to digital prevention work in the sense of digital democracy promotion. As a direct target group, educational professionals from Lower Saxony learn how to orient themselves in the digital world(s) of young people influenced by Islamism, how to position themselves and how to develop and implement digital, online-based prevention work or preventive youth work services. They acquire the necessary knowledge to understand the challenges of young people’s digital world(s) and implement them in their educational work.
