On June 25, the Central Library at KAP1 hosted a screening of the film “Kiwi.” The event was part of the XChange project and the accompanying program of the exhibition “A Part of Me, A Part of You!”
In her powerful documentary, Eda Kivanç shares her experience of growing up in Germany as a child of immigrants, breaking away from family expectations, and finding her own identity. The film reveals what is often hidden behind stereotypes: the universal complexity of parent-child relationships shaped by rules, trauma, and the journey into adulthood. Its central message to young people with a migration background is clear: You are not alone.
As part of the XChange project, the event created an important space where different life experiences could be shared, understood, and appreciated. After the screening, the audience had the opportunity to engage in an open discussion with the filmmaker.
A heartfelt thank you to Eda Kivanç for this important film and to the Central Library for its warm hospitality.
