The project “Sicher engagiert – Strengthening Digital Democracy in Politics and Volunteering” took part in the “LAUT UND KLAR” festival organized by the State Agency for Media of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesanstalt für Medien NRW) in Düsseldorf. The one-day festival brought together media professionals, content creators, and representatives of civil society to discuss how media can strengthen democratic cohesion.
The festival focused on workshops, project presentations, networking opportunities, expert discussions, and a live podcast recording. Its aim was to highlight the role of media as a space for democratic dialogue and to bring different audiences into conversation. “The exchange with the State Media Authority and Correctiv on identifying disinformation and fake news online was particularly valuable for us,” says project manager Michael Bücker.
For Sicher engagiert, the festival was an opportunity to connect its approach to strengthening digital democracy with a broader network of media professionals, civic engagement, and innovation. The event demonstrated the importance of formats that bring together people with little prior political involvement, committed citizens, and media professionals while making social responsibility tangible in practice.
