Democracy depends on civic engagement. At the same time, online hate and harassment targeting volunteers and elected representatives continue to increase. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and others play a central role in this development.

Then Sicher engagiert is the right program for you. Sicher engagiert is a free online training program for volunteers and elected representatives serving on city councils, district councils, and state parliaments. Through accessible digital workshops, participants strengthen their resilience and confidence in responding to online hate while learning how to create safer digital spaces. The program also develops practical skills for using social media as a platform for political communication and civic participation. Supported by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, we offer a practical and easy-to-understand series of online workshops.
You will learn how to:
- recognize digital attacks at an early stage and respond with confidence;
- strengthen your resilience in the digital environment;
- use social media as a space for political communication and civic participation.
Training dates:
- August 18 – September 10, every Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30–7:00 p.m.
- November 3 – November 26, every Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30–7:00 p.m.
