From September 11 to 13, we travelled to the Evangelical Academy Hofgeismar for three days filled with valuable insights, exchange, and, above all, practical experience.
The workshop focused on conspiracy narratives in far-right extremism and the role they play in different scenes and radicalization processes.
It quickly became clear how diverse these manifestations are: from Reichsbürger and COVID-19 deniers to militant far-right groups and new far-right youth groups, as well as right-wing combat sports networks and online and gaming subcultures. Anti-feminism, the Incel and manosphere scenes, and far-right “Active Clubs” were also examined in greater detail.
The strong practical focus on the final day was particularly valuable for our work. Through group exercises and case studies, we worked through specific situations from counseling practice and explored different ways of responding. How can we maintain dialogue? Where is clear boundary-setting necessary? When should protection take priority — and which intervention is appropriate in a given situation?
Our conclusion: New knowledge, diverse perspectives, and above all, practical insights that we can take forward into our prevention work.
